“Mellissa Morris is an exceptional teacher who has shown a comprehensive knowledge of art methods and materials, as well as an extraordinary ability to encourage student interactions. I have taken online abstract art classes with Mellissa for about four years, and I'm always impressed by her array of stimulating prompts and demonstration techniques. She conducts each session with an effective combination of instruction and personal class participation in an upbeat and entertaining manner. Her own art is experimental and inventive, inspiring her students with her creative abilities. As a student, I have learned a great deal about painting techniques and materials that have enlivened my collages and finished pieces. I highly recommend Mellissa both as a wonderful teacher and brilliant artist.” — Andrea Simon

“Mellissa is extraordinary as a teacher- she is knowledgeable, talented and expressive. Her passion for art and life come through in her lessons. She has such an energy in her work that her art has a bold life of it’s own. Most of all I love her playfulness which has enabled me to be free in my work.” -Joan Seecof

“While looking at Mellissa’s paintings, I was mesmerized at how the human hand could create color and form that rival the perfection of nature. Leaves came to mind; leaves have form but many subtle transitions of their colors, especially fall leaves. The integration of Mellissa’s colors stopped me in my tracks as if I were looking at nature’s perfection; when I am only aware of my breath, I am in awe.

I experienced the subject matter as archetypal, especially the way that the defined bridge of the nose and the eyes worked together. An archetype allows us to access inner energy as if we are being called by a universal force.

For me, that universal force was the energy of creativity as well as a deeper layer of authenticity. When I returned home, I sat in my art studio and felt more committed to creating art for "creativity’s sake” and to deepen my personal storytelling.” -Lisa Daigle

“Mellissa is a fantastic teacher full of knowledge and enthusiasm. It is obvious that she spends countless hours preparing for the lessons she teaches us and never fails to come up with something unique and interesting. Mellissa's classes have taught me so much over the more than 5 years I have taken weekly classes with her. Our group of about 5 has stayed together for all of these years. I am sure they will all agree with me the unlimited knowledge she shares with us has enriched our lives as artists and how we see art in our daily lives.

Her art is creative with thought, materials, techniques and overall joy. Her inquisitive mind to learn for herself as well as to share with her students, keeps her own art fresh and new and always unique. I highly recommend her as a teacher, an artist and as a wonderful person.” -Margie Bonfils
